I ask guys too many questions… please help me with online dating….?
I met an amazing man online. We are chatting perfectly. I miss his e-mails which means it is going fine. I asked a few questions and he backed off. For example I asked:
1. Why was he looking online;
2. What did he think are his Gifts to the world (life’s purpose);
3. etc…
He answered by saying I should keep it light. so I thought "good ridance.." and then he says to me that I am assuming wrong things about what he said. So, I am hoping for a real good incentive to either can him or continue with the conversations we have been enjoying. I have not dated in 20 yrs (was married for 13 and involved for 7 before marriage). I have no clue what the rules are…anymore. I have done research about online dating tips and dating rules BUT I woould like to know if I was wrong to ask such questions from an online acqaintance.
Can any men out there help me with this one????

I agree with Sebastian. You have to be in a philosophical state of mind to hand out more than a sarcastic answer to questions about "life’s purpose". Some people can go there at any time – some need a little more transition and a little more trust first.
Either way, a question too far out of place is jarring and awkward – nobody pauses while making love to you to ask what kind of coffee you like, right?
perhaps not too many questions, maybe just too "deep" questions. try getting to know him before you write a book about him! try finding things you have in common, thats usually a good ice breaker. save the philosophical topics for the later convos
If you have had nice online conversations and want to make some progress to talking in person, you could get a cheap throw away pre-paid cell phone so he won’t have your real phone number, and let him have that number to call you. If you like his voice and don’t get into arguments, you can then set up to meet in a public place for coffee. Be careful and don’t stop asking questions. Get a look at his License if you can for an address and truth.
Yeah he’s a guy. Gifts to the world? what is that? talk to the man about everyday things not about curing cancer.Save that talk for way way down the road. Enjoy what you have right now. Leave it at that .No need for change.
You need to be careful about drilling someone when you first meet them. I agree, keep it light.. if you want to pursue something more serious, ask the serious questions later.
