Has anyone had any experience on an on-line dating site?

March 9th, 2010 by admin | Posted in Adult Dating Sites

My gf of 3 years broke up with me at the beginning of Aug, and after a pretty miserable 5 months (the holidays sucked) I’m ready to start dating. She’s started seeing someone new and it just isn’t healthy pining over her.

I’m 32 and moved out to CA with her. Because we spent so much time together, my social circle is really small. I make an excellent living and I’m a good looking guy without too much baggage, but I work with a very small group of people and long hours, so I don’t have a clue how to meet interesting women. My coworkers are no help, and I can’t imagine the bar scene or anything like that.

I was thinking about match.com or eHarmony or something like that. Anyone have any experiences or recommendations? I need to get back out there, but I don’t know how. Thanks.

    Most dating sites advertise that you can sign up for free, so you go to all the trouble of creating your profile but then find that you can’t contact anyone until you send money. If you do subscribe you can’t tell which are the paid up members so you can waste time emailing people who are unable to reply to you.

    I am using plentyoffish.com which is a completely free site – they promise that they will never ask you for any money, ever! This site has the facility to search for people with similar interests by the use of keywords. You type in your interests yourself, so you are not limited to picking from a list like on other dating sites I looked at.

    PlentyofFish have forums where you can get lots of advice about writing your profile, and they also organise free singles events. I haven’t been on this site long but my experience so far has been enjoyable.

    My sister recently got married to a guy she met threw eharmony… She tells everyone that’s single that it’s the best place to go… just be so you know, eharmony wont take the profiles of everyone, there are some limiting factors they use… I don’t know why they limit it, but they do…

    Just try it, it’s pretty expensive though…

    I met my boyfriend through Craigslist.com. I like it because its FREE, and its just regular personals. You could basically copy and paste what you had on here on there…

    "I’m 32, I’m a good looking guy without too much baggage"

    Of course you can add more too lol.

    I put a profile on match.com but because its a paysite the # of responses seemed limited. You can sign up for free, but in order to e-mail the other person you have to pay. So say you find this girl you think she sounds nice, but ur not quite ready to give her ur phone # (might be crazy). If she doesn’t pay, you won’t get a response.

    I heard eHarmony was pretty good though, similar problem, but more mature applicants than match.com

    Good luck!

    I would not recommend E-Harmony, someone gave me 3 month membership as a present, and it really turned me off!

    Most of the people I had nothing in common with……I am quite athletic and they sent me a lot of fat men with big guts!
    What happend to the 29 levels of compatibility?????

    In 3 month I never met anyone who I had the least in common with……maybe you will have better luck :}
