You know a VERY shy young woman who is VERY quiet and guarded. She’s had a hard time initiating conversations, but will text you. She has a hard time dating, but goes on internet dating services. She’s a little overweight but is starting to exercise and diet. She’s a little withdrawn but is taking music lessons. And on top of all of that, she struggles with health issues. Even though that gets her down and is an obstacle, she still manages to smile.

Hmm… sounds a bit like me.
No, seriously, it’s hard to be introverted, because it’s not something one becomes, it’s something one just IS, and it doesn’t mean that that person is completely asocial; she probably has trouble just keeping up with other people, you know, like she receives the stimulus of socialization, but doesn’t know how to respond to it. It’s hard to draw shy people out, but when you’re lucky, you find ones who have rich inner lives, you know, you just have to give them a chance. Imagine how difficult it is to not know how to react, and add the social stigma to that, like people look down on you, or won’t give you the time of day. It’s good that she tries to get out of herself, though, with the music and the exercise. Plus it’s easier to get to know shy people through texting — they won’t have to deal so much with physical stimulus, so it’s not too overwhelming for them. And then when they’re comfortable with you already after all that texting, everything else just becomes easier. Are you this shy young woman, by any chance?

She sounds like a good person who needs a friend. Have you tried to become her friend?

I’d think she’s very brave, and i admire her initiative to go on dating sites and exercise in order that she not become a recluse,

I wonder if she understates it when she says ‘a little overweight’. I wonder how committed ’starting to excercise and diet’ is. I wonder what the ‘health issues’ are and how severe, and whether mental or physical.
I wonder if she is only trying to change until she finds someone who accepts her as she is.

i think this woman is great. there are a lot persons who are over weight. when people started eating pizzas, burgers and other junk food which on the face of is tasty to the tongue but does great harm to the body. If u had not disciplined ur mind and body and have fallen for these things, you have to pay the price for that.
but you can’t outcast an individual for his or her external looks and physical characteristics because at heart he also thinks like a normal person, he has the same feelings and desires, he also wants to the same things as others do. u should ext tend a hand of friendship to her and hepl her regain confidence. I would do sincerely if i am asked for such help make her feel great.
